Mental Map

This is a mental map that a child created to describe their neighborhood. As you can see, the map is not drawn to scale and there definitely was not a certain projection used to display an accurate map of the shape, area, or distance of his or her neighborhood. There is obvious distortion in the size of the houses and buildings, and distance between each of them however; it is the child's personal perception of his or her neighborhood of Coal City, Illinois in the 1940s.
